Program > Insurance for
Central Asia
The SABIT Insurance for Central Asia Program is designed to train 18 mid- to
senior-level executives from the insurance industry of five Central Asian Republics
(Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan). These delegates,
screened and selected by the U.S. Department of Commerce, represent the senior
managers and directors of insurance companies and regulatory agencies in Central
Asia. Insurance in Central Asia is a growing market segment that stands to benefit
greatly from technical assistance training. This program will introduce participants
to the structure and regulation of the U.S. insurance market, and expose them
to the latest technologies and management tools utilized by American insurance
companies and regulatory agencies.
This
SABIT Group Program will create
a forum for the top managers
and leaders of the insurance
industry in Central Asia to interact
with their counterparts in the
United States. The main objectives
of the program are to provide
a solid foundation of understanding
in the principles of insurance,
and to facilitate technical assistance
and encourage discussion on the
management of insurance companies
(particular attention will be
paid to operational and financial
considerations).
This is a unique opportunity for U.S. companies to provide industry insight and
training, while showcasing their products and services to potential partners
and customers from Central Asia. By hosting this SABIT group, U.S. companies
will build relationships with leading decision-makers in the insurance industry
in Central Asia. Through these valuable contacts host companies can explore commercial
opportunities and partnerships in the region.

The program will begin April
23rd in Washington, D.C. with
orientation sessions and visits
to relevant government agencies
and trade associations in the
National Capital Area. In addition,
the delegation will be trained
in business planning and cross-cultural
communication. During the remaining
three weeks, the delegation will
travel to select regions and
cities across the United States
to meet with leading financial
services companies, state insurance
commissions, and other industry
organizations and experts.
SABIT is currently looking
for U.S. host companies and organizations
to provide training for a few
hours or a full day at their
facilities. Training will be
focused on, but not limited to,
the following topics that represent
current challenges to the Central
Asian insurance industry:
Regulatory
Structures
Risk
Management and Reinsurance
Underwriting
Guidelines
Claims,
Fraud Detection and Prevention
Agents,
Adjustors and Investigators
Diversified
Activities of Insurance Companies
Insurance
and the Legal System

States, all U.S. domestic air
travel, housing, insurance,
per diem for meals and incidentals,
and interpreters to travel with
the group. In turn, U.S. host

expertise in any topics pertaining
to this particular program.
